Latest reviews of Vocabulary Trainer: English - Latvian app for iPhone and iPad

full of mistakes
This game is full of mistakes and makes me wonder if the creators know anything about Latvian. In level two, there are several fundamental mistakes - "nav" means "does not", not "does", and "tāpat" means "like" in the sense of "similar to" and is almost always used in the form "tāpat ka" - overall this exercise makes it seem like youre learning to say "does he like work?" as "vīņš nav tāpat darbs", which is nonsensical. The games format would be best as a vocabulary driller for undeclined nouns and adjectives, not random particles and declined pronouns and attempts at memorizing incorrectly formed sentences. Im very disappointed I paid for this!
Has potential but not quite there
There is potential here, but the app needs a few features to make it more useful. It would help to be able to customize the parameters for moving to the next level, as I found that the 15 points in 30 seconds is too easy, and I progressed through the levels quickly without a true mastery of the vocabulary. The ability to go back to earlier stages is good, but it would be more beneficial for this to be completely customizable to any previous stage. I found that I would sometimes complete the last level with a certain set of words by luck without even having seen some of the newer words, but there is no way to immediately repeat what I just did to reinforce the vocabulary. Lastly, this program could be extremely powerful if there was an option of having audio of the words being spoken by native speakers and choosing the English translation with or without seeing the word spelled out in Latvian. Overall, this app is currently not worth $4.99 but with a few tweaks could be a powerful tool for language learning.
